Rajasthan is a desert, it is difficult to ignore the fact that the region, has a varied topography, and includes from semi arid, desert-like conditions to among the oldest mountains in the world, and lush, water-filled valleys. Its wildlife is so rich in variety, including from tiger, leopard to endless varieties of deer, rhesus monkeys, reptiles including python, and a profusion of bird-life that includes water-birds.

One can see sarus cranes, comb duck, spotbill duck in the dam. During the winter, demmossile, common eastern crane, barheaded geese and migrating birds descent on the water. Crocodiles bask on the dam shores.There are panther, Bear, Hyena, Wolf, Nilgai and Chinkara in the hills around Jawai dam. Sometimes one can see Jackals and Jungle cats drinking water at the dam.

Keoladeo Ghana National park, better known as Bharatpur is one of India's best places in winter to sight spectacular varieties of birds in the wetland. Bird watchers who frequented Bharatpur recall the golden years of the wetland where they could sight thousands of Greylag Geese and ducks amongst other winter visitors to the park.

Exploring the Estuarine Crocodile - The saltwater crocodile is a formidable and opportunistic hypercarnivorous apex predator. Most prey are ambushed and then drowned or swallowed whole. It is capable of prevailing over almost any animal that enters its territory, including other apex predators such as sharks, varieties of freshwater and marine fish including pelagic species, invertebrates such as crustaceans, various reptiles, birds and mammals, including humans.

Bandhavgarh National Park and Tiger Reserve, set amongst the Vindhya Hills of Madhya Pradesh, was formed in 1968, with only 105 sq. km. of forest area that was once the private game reserve of the Maharajas of Rewa. In 1986 it was extended to include two large areas of Sal forests adjoining it on the northern and southern sides, taking its total area to 437 sq. km. In the North, a series of ridges are intercut by perennial streams and to the south gently undulating forest is interspersed with grazing areas.
